Tara
Collis
began her creative career working in a graphics department for
the Navy and putting herself through college at St. Mary's College
of Maryland. While working nearly full time and pursuing her bachelors
degree in art, Tara acquired practical graphic design skills as
well as fine art skills.
Graphic design is not just a job for Tara, it's a meaningful career.
She cannot imagine working in any industry that would not allow
her to be creative and produce tangible products that express
her ideas and artistic talents.
Like
many professionals, Tara continually evaluates her career path.
The goals she sets for herself reflect in her idealism for
onCall Design. Currently, she is the sole full-time employee
of the company but she foresees the enormous opportunity to
leverage a wide array of skill sets between her
clients and peers. Sharing a wealth of technical knowledge
and creative resources within this talented network allows
for endless possibilities.
Tara's long range goals for onCall Design include becoming
a modestly sized creative firm employing other graphic designers
and artists on a full-time basis. Her interest is not to become
merely an employer or boss over people but a key figure in forming,
maintaining and promoting talent, aesthetics and creativity.
She is determined to keep the fine art side of onCall Design
in the forefront.
We
have all heard the term "starving artists." It is Tara
Collis' desire to push an appreciation and respect for art and
creative work as a valid and lucrative career choice as any other.
Tara
also aspires to open an art gallery whose main focus is to promote
student art along with art of the community. Parallel to that
goal, she would like to encourage the development of artist communities.
By renting out a large public art studio to artists who need working
studio space and storage for their work, she hopes to encourage
the interaction and relationships between creative individuals.
